•The first World Wide Web server and browser developed by Tim Berners-Lee (England) while working at CERN began operation in 1989. Tim Berners-Lee is the visionary who devised an architectural plan to integrate existing internets, intra-nets, bitnets [universities and corporate research] and ARPAnet [the big daddy and forerunner of the Internet and www. His idea of a browser is what made it easy for non-programmers to access other computers within the framework of the Internet. Browsers such as Mozilla, Netscape, MS Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera and others would all depend on this set of specifications to make their interoperability possible.
